The Calico Rock United Methodist Church is hosting an event that will teach the public how to avoid becoming a victim of Medicare fraud and identity theft. Training will be provided by the Arkansas SMP (Senior Medicare Patrol) on August 1st, noon – 1pm, in the Fellowship Hall. SMP is a nationwide grant program that provides Medicare fraud prevention training. Dee Edwards, the program coordinator for Arkansas, will present a free one hour program that teaches three simple steps: PROTECT personal information; DETECT errors and fraud by reading your Explanation of Benefits; and REPORT suspected fraud, errors and abuse.
The event will be “lunch and learn” style which means that participants can bring a sack lunch to enjoy while listening to the program. Come spend an hour and learn how to “guard your card” (Medicare card).
