Body of Southside woman discovered in submerged car in White River
The Izard County Sheriff’s Department says the body found in a submerged car Sunday in the Sylamore area has been identified as a Southside woman.
According to Sheriff Charley Melton, the victim inside the vehicle was identified as Anita Farrier, 52.
Stone County Sheriff Brandon Long said deputies were dispatched around 6 a.m. to the Sylamore area on a report of a vehicle in the White River near Highway 9 leading into Izard County.
After deputies located the vehicle several yards from the river bank, officials from the Izard County Sheriff’s Department, Arkansas Game and Fish, the Allison Sylamore Fire Department, and the Arkansas State Police responded to assist. Emergency crews were able to pull the vehicle onto the river bank, where they discovered the body inside.

The department said the investigation is ongoing, however, foul play is not suspected.
