Free Childhood Immunizations now available locally
The CDC and Arkansas Department of Health have approved Mitchell’s Park Street Pharmacy as a Vaccine For Children site. The selection means local residents will have another choice in where they obtain free childhood immunizations. In addition to the County Health Unit, children can now be immunized in Calico Rock.
Appointments are available during the week. Walk-ins welcome on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Appointments are required for newborns to toddlers aged 3.
The Vaccine For Children program is operated by the Centers for Disease Control and the Arkansas Department of Health. VFC sites must meet strict guidelines for the storage, handling, and administration of immunizations. Since the VFC program began in 1994, it is estimated that over 1,000,000 childhood deaths have been prevented. Having a local VFC site will make it easier for families to access vaccines.
Newborns to children aged 19 qualify if they have Medicaid or if their insurance does not pay for vaccinations. The vaccines provide protection against 16 different diseases.
Vaccinators include registered nurse Whitney Beard, pharmacists Sarah Mitchell and Kelsey Gocke, and clinical technician Bridgett Sneathern. Mitchell’s Park Street Pharmacy treats you like family. To learn more about this convenient, free service, call 870-297-8107.
