Solar storm brings Aurora to view in Arkansas

A powerful geomagnetic storm on Friday allowed Arkansas skygazers in Arkansas to see the Northern Lights over the weekend.

Gazers looked to the sky with some able to view the aurora with their naked eyes or a camera.

A major disturbance in Earth’s magnetic field has caused the Northern Lights to become visible much further south than usual.

The disturbance, which began Friday and continued into Sunday, was the result of a geomagnetic storm caused by sunspots merging on the sun. This storm has triggered multiple X-class and M-class solar flares to eject from the sun.

Check out these views of the aurora that were posted to Facebook over the weekend.
