Hundreds turn out for Living Windows

Main Street was buzzing last Saturday as the amazing weather and festive spirit called them out to the 11th Annual Living Windows and Lighted Christmas Parade. An estimated 1,200 people lined the sidewalks and roadways  to enjoy the festivities.

There were eighteen windows decorated beautifully with different Christmas-themed movie scenes that came alive through the acting talents of local residents and business owners. The judging was difficult this year with every window beautifully detailed. With just a few votes separating all the windows, the winners were: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (First Place-$250); The Grinch (Second Place-$100); and Little House on the Prairie (Third Place-$75). Guests also enjoyed scenes from Gone with the Wind, Charlie Brown, the Beverly Hillbillies, The Polar Express, Ice Age, a salute to military service, and an ode to vintage homemade movies, which was a particular crowd favorite.

After the Windows, the Lighted Christmas Parade rolled through Main Street with Santa Clause on a Calico Rock Fire Truck leading the way. He had joined the festivities on Main Street by greeting his biggest fans, taking a little break from checking his list in preparation for Christmas Eve.

The winners in the Parade included: NEXT Communications (First Place Float); New Life Assembly of God (Second Place Float); CRHS Band (Third Place Float); Frosty the Snowman Seniors 2025 (ATV Winner); and Clayton Thompson & Buddies (Vehicle Winner). Decorated vehicles from Calico Rock VFD, Pineville VFD, Izard County Sheriff’s Office, Vitalink EMS, Mayor Greg Hamby, and others also showed up for the parade with lit up vehicles.

This event is sponsored by the Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center and presented by Main Street Calico Rock and Mitchell’s Park Street Pharmacy.
