Calico Rock Named 2024 Volunteer Community of the Year

The City of Calico Rock has been recognized as the 2024 Volunteer Community of the Year, an honor presented by Mayor Berry and Starr Crowe of Engage, AR. Mayor Greg Hamby proudly accepted the award during the Arkansas Municipal League’s Winter Conference held in Little Rock.
The award celebrates Calico Rock’s commitment to volunteerism and its thriving community spirit. From revitalization projects to countless hours contributed by individuals and organizations, Calico Rock stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through community collaboration.
Mayor Greg Hamby shared his gratitude for the recognition, saying: “This award reflects the heart and soul of Calico Rock. Our volunteers are the backbone of this community, and their passion and hard work are what make Calico Rock such a wonderful place to call home. This is not just an award for the city—it’s a celebration of every individual and organization who gives their time and talent to make a difference. I couldn’t be prouder to represent our town today.”
Calico Rock’s strong culture of volunteerism includes efforts led by the Calico Rock Community Foundation, Girls in Action, Main Street Arkansas, and countless other groups and individuals who have worked tirelessly to preserve, support, and promote the town’s unique character and history.
