Norfork brightens park with new mural addition

Already graced with a number of colorful murals at various locations within the community, the city of Norfork recently saw the addition of another which now graces the city maintenance building near City Park.
The idea was conceived by local business owner and past Council member Jake Anderson, who approached Keela Olson at the Norfork High School about the possibility of having this project taken on by the school’s students.
Following a couple of sketches that incorporated Anderson’s vision of what the image might look like, the students took the idea and brightened it up, inspired by area artist Jamie Craddock of Gassville. Corey McMann, the artist who professionally painted the mural in downtown Mountain Home also provided some guidance.
The landscape image depicted was inspired by the bluffs on Linger Lane, the road running adjacent to the school.
The student involved the most included Harmony Buck, Arinne Woody, Will Foster, and Kenzi Teegarden. Science teacher, and now EAST/Business teacher assisted, Kynzie Rangel was also involved as was Brooke Chapman, new high school principal and a number of other EAST students.
Actual work on the mural took five days, with the help of the city of Norfork’s maintenance man, Joe who assisted with ladder set-up and clean-up every day as the work progressed. Funds needed for the supplies required to get the job done were raised from the 5k run held on Pioneer Day, an event that Anderson is planning to make an annual event.
As you can see, the mural is certainly bright and colorful . . . .a definite improvement over the blank wall which it now covers. So next time you go to the park, check out this new piece of local artwork!
