Local Student wins Little Laura Contest

At the 50th annual Wilder Days in Mansfield Mo Our own Lily Sue Gardner took First place in the little Laura Contest Six to Nine year age division.
With contestants from several states including, California, Colorado, Georgia, and Kansas. This was the largest turn out for this contest ever with over eighty total participants and her category had the most entries. Dressed in her prairie dress and bonnet, Lily sported a basket with a real chicken egg from her own chicken Poppy.

Lily answered questions about her favorite animal, a bunny because it is cute with a little cottontail, her favorite Laura Ingalls Wilder book. She’s just started the little house in the big woods, her favorite part being Laura and Mary eating a fried pig’s tail, and her favorite class reading because it is an adventure. She was chosen as one of three finalists before being announced the overall winner. Lily was thrilled to represent Calico Rock in the contest and very proud to bring home the win. Lily is the Daughter of Joseph and Allie Gardner.
